Graham Courtney
Horse & Hound’s motoring expert Graham Courtney regularly writes for local and national magazines and newspapers, including Country Life, Square Mile and Reader’s Digest. He has road tested in excess of 2,000 cars in his career so far – everything from an AC to a Zastava. Graham is also a commentator for TalkSPORT radio and is their North East correspondent.
Graham comes from a farming community and has previously, when not working on the neighbouring farm, helped out at a local livery yard. He learned to drive, aged nine, on a Massey Ferguson 135 before graduating to a Land Rover Series 2a, Seddon truck and New Holland combine harvester. He passed his tractor licence test on the day of his 16th birthday and got his full driving licence a year later on his 17th birthday. Graham inherited his first car from his mother – a Mini Cooper S – and went on to buy a Ford Escort RS1600i. He had it for six weeks before it was stolen.
Graham still has a love of tractors. And ride-on mowers. And quad bikes. Anything with a motor really, but focuses on finding the best towing cars for Horse & Hound.
