The late Georgie Campbell
Georgie Campbell was a much-loved British event rider who competed to five-star level, including at Badminton and Burghley.
Georgie lost her life while competing in the CCI4*-S at Bicton Horse Trials on 26 May, 2024. An inquest into her death concluded that it was an accident and Georgie died as a result of a “catastrophic head injury in a rotational fall”.
Georgie (née Strang) married New Zealand event rider Jesse Campbell in December 2020. The couple were based in Kent.
The Georgie Campbell Foundation has been set up in her memory to “give back to the sport Georgie loved”. As well as working to improve safety in eventing, it aims to provide the support that would have helped the young Georgie set up her business. The first rider chosen to benefit directly is 25-year-old Wiltshire-based Ollie Thompson.
