Eurodressage reported that the 12-year-old Westfalian mare has been acquired by Kirsty’s company Bollmoor Partner GmbH, alongside Kristy’s mother Rosalind Oatley.
Charlotte discovered her as a four-year-old in Sweden in 2018, buying her off a video after judging at the Swedish Warmblood Young Horse Championships in Flyinge.
“She captured my heart the minute I saw her,” Charlotte told Horse & Hound at the time. “So I took the risk and got her.”

The mare was first produced in the UK by current national champion Sadie Smith, who was formerly Carl Hester’s stable rider, before Charlotte McDowall took over the ride for two years, competing her extensively from medium to small tour level through 2022.
Charlotte Dujardin returned to the saddle in 2023, taking her to grand prix debut at Hartpury that November with a score of 79.13%.
Her international career began in style at the CDI3* in Lier in February 2024, where the pair won the grand prix and grand prix special in a field of 41 starters – immediately establishing themselves as British Olympic hopefuls for Paris, alongside Charlotte’s then top horse Imhotep. A co-ownership share was sold to Austrian investor Ulrike Bachinger around this time.
However, Charlotte’s suspension in July 2024 ended their Paris Olympic dream. When Imhotep was subsequently sold to Austrian rider Diana Porsche in November 2024, Alive and Kicking stepped into the spotlight as Charlotte’s leading grand prix horse.
After returning from her one-year ban, Charlotte competed Alive And Kicking again at Le Mans CDI3* in October 2025, winning both tests, and rode World Cup qualifiers in London and Amsterdam.
In March 2026, Charlotte re-registered as sole owner with the FEI, removing both Bachinger and Hester from the ownership list – a move that, in retrospect, signals the sale could already have been in motion.
Kristy Oatley is a multiple Australian Olympian, having represented her country at five Games.
