Keep up to date with all the Horse of the Year Show live results across the showing classes at HOYS (7-11 October) with our live news service.
Beginning with the first class in the TopSpec Arena at 7.05am on Wednesday 7 October, and all the way through to the Supreme Products Supreme Horse and Pony of the Year Championships in the Andrews Bowen International Arena on Sunday 11 October, H&H’s showing editor Bethan Simons will be bringing you all the news as it happens.
In the meantime, here are some pre-show articles for you to enjoy:
The Dales ponies are coming forward into the ring now.
Hi all, this is Bethan’s friend Hannah. I’m just standing in while she’s getting ready to go into the ring.
In front of me is a lovely lineup of Exmoors and Shetlands. Our ride judge today, Julie Templeton, has set a clever show starting on the left rein so that the majority of the performance is in her eyeline.
The first set of marks have been added, this year electronically, and the first red rosette of the year heads home with Tony Bell’s Winkers Gryffindor ridden by Sarah Parker.
In second we have Jorenzo V.D. Kortenhof owned by Claire Connor and ridden here by Mia Whittaker.
In third place is Katy Marriott Payne riding David Hodge and Julian Walters Blackthorn Poldark.
Fourth was awarded to Jade Pirie-Bowker and James Price’s Anchor Jaffacake and in fifth and highest placed mare is Katherine Bowling Hartenfeld Anchor Lullaby.
Congratulations to all concerned.
Who will be crowned in “The Arena of Dreams” this term?
While we await the results of the first class, have your say on HOYS’ decision to keep who is judging each class under wraps until the evening before...
It's quite a walk from the stables to the arena so you don't want to forget anything!
We're heading heading down to the arena for the second class of the day
Wednesday 7 October
Good morning! It’s day one of the 2026 Horse of the Year Show. After such a hot summer, it’s absolutely typical that Day One is a wet one here! There are a lot of waterproof coats and sheets being dug out for the walk down the horse walk…
I will be with you all day updating results as we go, but I will be enlisting the help of a few friends this morning as I will be in the ring for a little bit. Bear with us!
First into the TopSpec Arena this morning at 7:05 are the Shetland and Exmoor ponies. Native fans are in for a busy day as also in the ring are the Dales, Fell, New Forest, Dartmoor, Highland, Connemara, Welsh C and D Pony of the Year.
We’ve also got pure-bred Arabs, a few Search For a Star classes, and the first ever veteran final in the TopSpec too.
Meanwhile over in the Andrews Bowen International Arena, showing fans have time to grab a bite of breakfast, as the ladies side saddle horse final won’t start until 9:20, and it’s followed by the Racehorse to Ridinghorse final.
Then we have the harness horse and pony of the year, and finally, at 1.20pm, the working hunters will perform. The top 10 will be invited back for placing in the evening performance.
