The New Zealand rider and her 2024 Badminton winner Greenacres Special Cavalier, owned by Chris and Michelle Mann and her rider, scored 29 for their test, which was particularly well marked in the second half, with plenty of eights, plus one nine from Amanda Miller at B for their second flying change.
“I’m very pleased,” said Caroline. “It’s tough to get a good mark out there. She went out and put her game face on and I’m very happy with her.”
Caroline also has the less experienced High Time here, who sits 45th after dressage and will be the fourth horse out across country in the morning.
Badminton final scores
Comparing her two horses, Caroline said: “They both jump. High Time would be a bit bigger in stride and more fiery. Greenacres Special Cavalier would just trot through – she’s a funny horse, she won’t jump a ditch and she won’t go over a piece of string and you can’t do polework with her, but you put your legs on and she’s off, so that’s just her and that’s the way she is.”
