The deadline is fast approaching to send us your story for the H&H reader issue 2014 — out 18 December.
This special edition of H&H puts you, our readers, in the spotlight and offers you the chance to tell us about your struggles and successes, to send us your best photos and to vote for our cover star.
Among the emails we’ve received so far this year is one from a reader who has been competing with a horse bought for £27 in a sorry state from an auction.
Another contributor has been successful in the showring with a pony she bought unhandled as a two-year-old straight from the New Forest. And then there’s the pregnant reader whose “baby brain” caused her to put her precious Royal International signed qualifying card in the washing machine!
We’ve also heard from a rider who battles multiple sclerosis to compete in dressage, an eventer who tackled her first CCI3* this year (pictured) and a reader whose horse has helped her through her grief after her mother died of brain cancer.
But we still want to hear more of your stories! If you’ve achieved a personal first or beaten the odds, built a relationship with a new horse or taken a fantastic photo, we can’t wait to receive your email.
The cover of the issue is down to you too — we’ve shortlisted some equine stars of 2014, but the final choice is open to a public vote.
Will Valegro take the honours, as he did when we ran our first reader issue in 2012? Or will it be Hoppy Jumping, in a victory for a show horse for the second year running? Does Chilli Morning get your vote after his second individual bronze medal? Or is the leading two-mile chaser Sire De Grugy your pick? Or maybe the one-eyed showjumper Adventure De Kannah has won your heart?
Which ones deserves to be on the cover? Make sure you get your vote in.
