Banish your Olympic withdrawal symptoms, dust off your Union Flags and get ready for the European Eventing Championships in Malmö, Sweden, later this week (29 August- 1 September).

Olympic silver medallists Tina Cook and William Fox-Pitt will be spearheading the British squad, joined by Tom McEwen, Izzy Taylor, Lucy Wiegersma and Pippa Funnell.

Their campaign for gold will start with the dressage on Thursday (29 August) and Friday (30 August), followed by the cross-country on Saturday (31 August) and the showjumping and medal ceremony on Sunday (1 September).

The competition, which is a 3-star event held every 2 years, is a far cry from its advent at Badminton in 1953, when 6 nations sent teams but only the British and Swiss had horses fit enough to complete.

If you’re not making the trip to Sweden yourself, you can keep up to date with all the action using the BBC sport website and red button.

Cross-country will be shown live on the BBC Sport website on  Saturday 31 August from 8.50am-3pm and on the red button from 6pm-0.10am.

On Sunday 1 September the showjumping will be live on the BBC Sport website from 9.50-11.30am and 12.20-3.30pm.

It will be on the red button replay from 9pm-01.50am and highlights will be shown on BBC Two from 4-6pm.

You can also follow the action using FEI TV. A subscription costs €9.99 (about £8.60) a month or €59.99 (about £52) a year. Visit www.feitv.org.

And don’t forget to read our reports and blogs on the H&H website.
