Celebrate Christmas at a charity carol service

  • Celebrate Christmas and support a charity this December by singing along to some carols.

Tattersalls in Newmarket hosts the annual Racing Welfare carol service, on Wednesday 12 December.

Readings will be by Kate Grimwade from Darley pre-training, Jane Duncan from Ed Dunlop’s yard, Newmarket trainer Chris Wall and Racing Welfare’s chairman Joey Newton.

“The annual carol concert is a highlight of the Christmas season for many people in Newmarket; it not only provides some wonderful performances from the children of Fairstead House School but also raises significant sums to aid my role as the chaplain to horseracing,” said the Reverend Graham Locking.

Tickets are available to buy at Tindalls bookshop on the High Street, Racing Welfare’s head office on Park Lane or from Fairstead School on Fordham Road. Tickets are priced at £15 for the concert and champagne reception, £10 for concert only tickets and £2.50 for children under 14.

The Donkey Sanctuary will hold its annual Candlelight evening and carol service on Friday 7 December at 5pm. www.thedonkeysanctuary.org.uk

And the Donkey Sanctuary Leeds, which provides free riding therapy to around 190 children with special needs and disabilities every week, is also hosting a service.

The Christmas Carol Concert and Nativity is being held on Thursday 13 December at 6.30pm at the centre. Tickets are £4 per adult, £2 per child, includes a drink on arrival. Call 01132619249 for tickets.
