Your essential guide to entering British Eventing competitions
This year for the first time Eventing magazine’s horse trials guide will be available online.
The horse trials guide, published in the March and April issues of Eventing, is an essential guide to entering British Eventing (BE) competitions.
This season, each event’s entry will be posted on HorseandHound.co.uk for VIP readers to access approximately two weeks before entries open. All H&H and Eventing magazine subscribers have access to the VIP area (email hheditor@timeinc.com if you are a magazine subscriber and wish to join the VIP club). Or you can sign up for VIP membership from £3.99 a month, with a free trial period.

What’s in the guide?
The horse trials guide includes every BE fixture, with three-tier information about it. Firstly, there is a short introduction from the event organiser, giving a flavour of the show and detailing any changes this season.
Secondly, riders give their comments on the horse trials. Their thoughts will help you assess whether the event is worth the trip, if it will suit your horse and what to expect.
Thirdly, we calculate the percentage of cross-country jumping clear rounds at every level — these will help you compare events and see which offer tough courses for when you want to test if you are ready to move up a class and which give an easier introduction to a level.
