Oscar, a coloured gelding who once diced with death but is now a winner in the show ring, has been chosen as “The Face of TopSpec 2014”.
The 6-year-old homebred belonging to Julie Hammond fought off tough competition to win this nationwide competition run by the leading feed supplier.
Oscar suffered from impaction colic at just 24 hours old, but has bounced back to hold his own in competition. He has qualified for classes at the Coloured Horse And Pony Society (CHAPS) Championships and earned tickets to the British Dressage Area Festivals and winter regionals.
Julie said: “Oscar is an exceptionally fussy eater who struggles to maintain weight. He didn’t have the best start in life, but he is now showing huge potential. We owe this to TopSpec.”
The winner’s prize included £500-worth of TopSpec feed, a professional photoshoot, a framed print and a top-of-the-range Horseware turnout rug.
