Eke out the last of the eventing season with these 7 competitions
We hate to think about it, but sadly the end of the 2016 eventing season is nigh. So here’s a selection of events you need to get your teeth into before it’s too late.
Pachesham one-day event
Date: 24 September
Venue: Pachesham, Leatherhead
Details: Three classes available to enter including 50cm, 70cm and 85cm with either the dressage or showjumping on a surface
Blackwater Farm and South Norfolk Pony Club one-day-event
Date: 25 September
Venue: Blackwater Farm, Norwich
Never miss out on the latest happenings in the equestrian world
Details: Beginners (2’3″), novice (2’9″), intermediate (3′) and open (3’6″) classes available at the British Eventing Great Witchingham site. Open to non-Pony Club members
Chepstow unaffiliated one-day event
Date: 25 September
Venue: Chepstow Racecourse
Details: There are two classes available for competitors to enter — 80cm and 90cm. The cross-country is held in the beautiful setting of Piercefield Park
Mini one-day event
Date: 25 September
Venue: Cottingham Equestrian Centre, East Yorkshire
Details: Ideal for beginners, there are two classes at this event; 65cm and 80cm. Classes will be split in juniors and seniors
Port Royal Arena one-day event
Date: 8 October
Venue: Port Royal EEC, Yorkshire
Details: Classes include 70cm, 80cm, 85cm, 90cm and 100cm. This one-day event, run under British Eventing rules, encompasses dressage in one all-weather arena plus a large showjumping and cross-country course in another all-weather arena
Arena eventing challenge
Date: 9 October
Venue: Speetley Equestrian Centre, Chesterfield
Details: Pairs and individual classes from 65/75cm to 90/100cm. This arena eventing is run on a surface and the main arena includes cross-country features such as steps and water
Cattistock Hunt Pony Club and Leweston School open one-day event
Date: 9 October
Venue: Bricky Farm, Dorchester
Details: There is a 60cm clear round to start the day, followed by 80cm, 90cm and 100cm classes (the 100cm class is run over a BE100 cross-country course)
