Dinah and Stephen Posford and their daughter Juliet Carter’s 14-year-old Annaghmore Valoner just touched fence six, the tricky red and white upright over a water tray, which caught out plenty of other combinations. Combined with 0.8 of a time-fault, this dropped the pair from second overnight to third.
Harry has made no secret this week of how much he loves this sensitive mare. He has had to instil self-belief in her for her to perform at this level and have confidence in her own undoubted talent. She has repaid him handsomely with two fourths at Defender Burghley Horse Trials and now third at Badminton.
“I thought she jumped beautifully. She went in and handled the cheers, the atmosphere, the crowd really well,” said Harry. “I was delighted with her round. She went in a beautiful, soft way and jumped out of her skin. She had a rail, which was very, very minor, but I couldn’t be happier with her.”

Harry is the first eventing world number one who has not won a five-star and his quest for that honour continues.
“Ros always plays down her own talent, but what she’s done is staggering and doesn’t happen in our sport,” said Harry. “She’s also a recent mother and to do this with all the challenges that go with that is outstanding.”
