New chairman for BHS

  • The British Horse Society has a new chairman, following the retirement of Michael Clayton at the society’s AGM last week. Mrs Pat Cambell, a well-known and highly-regarded native pony enthusiast, has taken over the role.

“Michael Clayton’s will be a hard act to follow” said Pat. “Everyone in the horse world owes him a huge debt of gratitude for his efforts during the past four years. It is thanks to his vision that the BHS has refocused its energies as a leading equine welfare charity.”

Although he has stepped down from his role as BHS chairman, Michael will still be actively championing the cause of the horse.

“I look forward to continuing to serve the horse community’s best interests through my chairmanship of the British Horse Industry Confederation,” Michael explained. “We will do our best to seek from government a better deal for the horse industry.”

Pat Cambell’s former roles include chairman of the Dartmoor Pony Society, the Central Prefix Register and presidency of the National Pony Society. She is continuing in her role as chairman of the BHS Horse and Pony Breeds Committee.
