Jessica Springsteen
American showjumper Jessica Springsteen is the daughter of rock star Bruce Springsteen and was born in December 1991. She graduated from Duke University in North Carolina in 2015, and is now showjumping full-time on the international circuit.
Jessica was a national equitation champion who excelled in the junior hunter, jumper and pony divisions. In 2010 she started competing in grand prix showjumping classes.
As a child she had ponies at her family’s Stone Hill Farm in New Jersey. Beacon Hill, a stable with a reputation for producing championships junior riders, is next door. This was where Jessica rode as she made her way through the ranks before graduating to grand prix.
After being trained by Laura Kraut and Nick Skelton for five years, she left their US yard in May 2015 and is now settled in The Netherlands, where she is guided by Edwina Tops Alexander and former Olympic rider Jan.
Peter Charles’ London 2012 horse Murka’s Vindicat W (Vinnie) was sold to Jessica in September 2012. Her first major victory with Vinnie came in March 2013 at the FTI Winter Equestrian Festival where she topped a $82,000 (£54,136) class.
Jessica’s other top mounts include Irish-bred Lisona; Wish, a Dutch-bred mare used in a lot of speed classes, Zero, Wotsamillion, Carolina 31 and Davendy S.
