New Swaine Adeney Brigg book published

  • A book on the history of Swaine Adeney Brigg, maker of luxury equestrian goods, has been published to mark 250 years of craftsmanship at the firm.

In Good Hands explores the company’s lasting success. Swaine & Adeney, as it was then known, began as a manufacturer of driving, riding and hunting whips, becoming whip maker to the royal family.

With the coming of the railways, it branched out into riding accessories and survived the advent of the motorcar by applying its leatherwork skills to luxury luggage, merging with umbrella manufacturer Thomas Brigg in 1943.

The book is beautifully illustrated with some of its exquisite equestrian accessories, including this hound’s head walking stick and gentleman’s crop (pictured).

To order the book, which costs £47.50, visit www.swaineadeney.co.uk.
