Horse First wins business award

  • Equine supplement company Horse First has been named “exporter of the year” at the Greater Newry business awards in Northern Ireland.

The event, sponsored by InvestNI, celebrated leadership, ambition and entrepreneurship in the Greater Newry business community.

Horse First was founded in 2004 by Paddy Hughes, a former producer of showjumpers and event horses. The company manufactures a wide range of equine dietary supplements, which are exported from Northern Ireland to Europe and North America. Its products are endorsed by riders including Laura Kraut and Michael Whitaker.

Company director Tanya Hughes said: “This award is wonderful recognition for the work we do.

“Horse First has been selling equine supplements for more than five years and at this stage of the company’s growth to have been nominated — never mind winning — is a great achievement.

“We have a fantastic team, loyal customers and we are proud that our products are currently exported to more than 32 Countries.”
