Church packed for Jane Goldsmith’s funeral


  • More than 100 people attended Jane Goldsmith’s funeral in the church of St Giles in Gaydon, Warks, yesterday (11 June).

    Jane, who died on 2 June, was renowned as a coach and dressage trainer, as well as being one of the great pioneering forces in para-dressage.

    Her funeral was attended by Trond Asmyr, the FEI Director of dressage and para Dressage, who flew in specially.

    Many top para athletes including Lee Pearson MBE/OBE, Sophie Christiansen MBE, Anne Dunham MBE, Sophie Wells, Natasha Baker, and Debbie Criddle to name but a few, packed in to the tiny church.

    Also present was British Eventing’s Mike Etherington Smith, head of the BEF, Andrew Finding, as well as Jane Holderness-Rodham and BD’s chief executive Amanda Bond and former chairman Desi Dillingham MBE.

    The service was led by the Rev Mike Cadwallader and tributes including the Ode To The Horse were read by members of Jane’s family.
