When at home he spends his time box-walking and hates being alone.
It took a while to persuade owner-breeder Henri Poulat to sell Big Buck’s. He eventually did – for a rumoured €400,000 in 2007.
He’s only ever run at five British tracks – Aintree, Cheltenham, Warwick, Newbury and Ascot – and hates to travel.
Big Buck’s is the only horse at Paul Nicholls’ yard to have his hay in a haynet – otherwise, he’d trample it during his box-walking. He’s also the first to be fed.
He’s won more than £1million in prize-money.
