Leonora Smee’s blog: see behind the scenes of an incredible show in St Tropez
Last weekend we attended the Longines Athina Onassis Horse Show set in the incredible location of Pampalone beach, St Tropez.
Now in its fourth year, the show has built a reputation second to none. It attracts world class riders and horses including world number one Kent Farrington. Plus there’s other former world number ones and Olympic medallists that compete there such as Nick Skelton, Daniel Duesser, John Whitaker, Ben Maher, Laura Kraut and Ludger Beerbaum among many others. The sponsors associated with the Longines Athina Onassis Horse Show are equally as impressive. Brands including Longines, Bentley, Julius Barr and Dolce & Gabbana, to name but a few. High profile guests also attend the event such as Athina Onassis herself, Nick Skelton, Jessica Springsteen and Guillaume Canet.
The organisation of the event and the attention to detail for horses, riders and spectators is exceptional, I felt privileged to be there. Personally, my team and I had a successful show with placings including third in the 1.40m on the opening day, fifth in the medium tour grand prix and a very unlucky four faults in the big tour grand prix, which meant we had to settle for 13th place.

As always, it was a spectacular weekend and I look forward to next year!
