Our reviewer loved this jacket and would recommend it to someone wanting a fashionable, warm parka that has a ‘country look’ about it

Over the winter months I have been testing a small South West Ten black faux fur parka.

This luxurious brand mixes chic street style with warmth and comfort, making this the perfect jacket for everyday use. What I love about this parka is that it offers the perfect fashionable hybrid for someone like me, who lives and works in London, but heads home to the countryside and horses (not to mention mum’s roast dinners) at the weekend.

The parka has a very luxurious look and feel to it. Lined with a thick, heavy faux fur removable inner it is very warm and snug, making it a must-have for this cold weather. That being said, the lining easily zips out, allowing a versatile jacket for any occasion. It must be noted however that the jacket is considerably larger/smaller inside, depending on whether the liner is zipped in or not, so I would definitely recommend trying it on first, to ensure that it fits you whatever the weather!

The jacket also features a removable faux fur lining around the hood, however, when attached, it does make the hood look extremely big (see photos)… some would deem this fashionable, however I fond it slightly less practical! The trim is also very fiddly to attach again, as there are a lot of buttons, so not one to be left for when you’re in a rush.

The parka zips up the front and features two side pockets and a rear vent. It also has poppers up the front and on each pocket. Another nice touch is that the jacket can be personalised – I opted for a black jacket with black faux fur, however this is completely customisable, so there’s something for everyone. The jacket is also available in both short and long styles. I would recommend contacting the company first and checking the lead time if you want to go for a personalised jacket, as these can take longer to produce.

I really like how glamorous this jacket is and it has featured heavily on my Instagram (which I have no shame in admitting that I take very seriously). However, as I love it so much, I was almost reluctant to wear it to the yard. When I did, my loving horse immediately slobbered on it, and the nature of the fabric meant that this soaked in and was quite hard to clean off. Being black it also showed up all the dust from around the yard, not to mention copious amounts of horsehair (it is clipping season after all). I also wouldn’t ride in this jacket, as it’s definitely a fashion piece rather than a functional jacket.

It is instead perfect for wearing out and about, or when you’re off to a horsey event for the weekend and it has received a lot of compliments.

Overall I would recommend this jacket to someone wanting a fashionable, warm parka that has a ‘country look’ about it.

    Verdict

A beautifully luxurious jacket that I would recommend to anyone — but it's probably a bit too smart to wear around the yard!
