Chillout Horsewear high-waist silicone seat breeches

I tested the Chillout Horsewear high-waisted silicone seat breeches in size 10 in an eye-catching magenta colour. Despite their bright and bold appearance, the colour wasn’t the only thing to grab my attention — the full-seat breeches feature an intricate floral swirl design made from silicone.

This is very pretty and gives the breeches a unique and stylish look, while also remaining extremely functional; the seat offers phenomenal grip and although it is made from silicone it is not sticky and does not pick up hairs, fibres and dirt from around the yard, helping the breeches to remain clean. This is also true of the material they are made from.

The breeches are smooth to touch and again, do not pick up hay or debris from around the yard. These breeches are by far the grippiest breeches I have ever ridden in. They really do allow you to feel secure in the saddle so I strongly recommend them to anyone who needs a bit of extra sticking power.

Although the breeches have a modern design, they still resemble the classic fit of more traditional breeches. They feature two rear zip pockets (which I have found handy for keeping my valuables in), cross-rear branded belt loops and front pocket edging. I especially like their contrasting elasticated ankles, as it reduces bulk under the boot when riding. They offer a flattering fit, and the material does not bag or bunch up, however they are very high-waisted and rather tight fitting.

Therefore, I’d advise trying a pair on, especially if you are on the shorter side as they are quite long in the leg. On this note, it’s also important that you don’t wear a bulky shirt, especially if you’re tucking it in, as you will be able to see its creases through the breeches.

Verdict

Overall these breeches are fun and functional and will certainly brighten up those winter months while offering you a comfortable and flattering fit. They are great quality and have not snagged and the silicone seat has not worn in the time that I have been testing them.
