  • Kate Negus Saddlery has launched a new padded headpiece for 2014.

The Grand Prix Headpiece is made from English leather has been designed by the company’s managing director, Julia Andrews.

It combines a padded headpiece with a design that reduces pressure around the back of the horse’s ears with a wider section at the top to reduce poll pressure.

The style features an integral noseband hanger to allow the noseband to be fastened onto the headpiece for further comfort.

“As riders, we’re always looking at ways to enhance our horse’s comfort, to help improve his way of going, and you have to start with the tack he is wearing,” said Ms Andrews.

“Our bespoke approach to bridles helps to achieve the perfect fit, but there are extras that can really make a difference, such as the Grand Prix Headpiece.

“This helps to further improve comfort by reducing poll pressure. It’s a design that can be enjoyed by all horses, especially those that are sensitive around the ears and poll.”

The new Grand Prix Headpiece comes as standard on the company’s Grand Prix range of bridles, and is available as an upgrade on all other styles. It can be purchased separately and costs £95.
