Horse feed manufacturer Blue Chip has launched the UK’s first dedicated feed balancer for hormonal mares as part of its established range of super-concentrated balancers. While there are many supplements targeted specifically at “moody mares”, this is the first feed balancer of its kind.
The Happy Mare balancer is formulated specifically to support the nutritional needs of mares, helping them maintain a normal oestrus cycle as undesirable behaviour is often attributed to hormonal fluctuations that affect the mare’s physical comfort and way of going.
The balancer combines targeted botanical ingredients, including chaste tree berry, raspberry leaf and dandelion, with complete daily nutrition to support hormonal balance, digestive health, and overall wellbeing. The ingredients have been chosen to help mares maintain an even temperament and steady energy levels, while supporting muscle tone and topline for good-doers.
The new balancer provides mare owners a practical and easy feeding solution that offers an alternative to adding a supplement to their existing daily feed ration. As a small daily serving, the balancer can also be fed by hand, which makes it ideal for fussy eaters.
Blue Chip describes the formulation as being underpinned by a strong focus on digestive health, recognising its critical role in hormone function, adding that when the gut is out of balance, hormones can be, too. By combining targeted ingredients with the right balance of essential vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and advanced digestive support, Happy Mare balancer is formulated to help mares feel more consistent, settled and comfortable.
This balancer is not recommended for pregnant mares or broodmares because of its chaste tree berry content.
