The Pure Feed company has launched a new “healthy” horse reward – Pure Treats.
The treats are molasses-free and low in energy and starch. They contain no added sugar.
“Recent research investigated whether food rewards were a benefit or a hindrance in the behaviour of yearlings being handled for the first time,” said a spokesman for the company.
“The results were quite conclusive. In short, there were marked long-term benefits in feeding young horses tit-bits as rewards.
“Experience shows that the same positive reinforcement with treats can apply to the training of mature horses and we all love to reward our horses when they’ve done well.”
Pure Treats are available in 2kg or 4kg bags.
