An overwhelming majority of horse owners believe that horse theft is a growing problem according to the latest Horse and Hound Online survey.
A massive 83 per cent of respondents perceive horse theft to be a growing problem. This is despite the fact that recent statistics show that the overall number of stolen horses has continued to fall since the1990s.
However, horse theft is still a problem for around 100 horse owners every year, according to Horsewatch, the association set up to combathorse theft.
The recent theft of a show jumper from the West Midlands, will be the subject of Crimewatch Daily on BBC1 at 10am on Tuesday 28 November.
