Top hats and top horses: Royal Ascot day 1 in pictures
Day 1 of Royal Ascot (Tuesday 17 June) brought sunshine and top racing.
Toronado was an impressive winner of the opening race of the meeting — the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes — while John Gosden’s Kingman put in a strong performance in the St James’s Palace
In the fashion stakes bright colours and monochrome were popular trends, while the men scrubbed up well in top hats and tails.
