Seven horses put down and three rescued in welfare raid: others remain on property

  • Eleven animalsseven horses, a goat and three dogs — have been put down after being found at a property in Hertfordshire last week (14-15 October).

A further three horses, 40 dogs and a cat were removed by the RSPCA and put into the charity’s care by the police.

“The RSPCA can confirm that it attended a location in Hemel Hempstead Road, Redbourn, on 14 and 15 October after receiving concerns about the welfare of animals kept there,” said an RSPCA spokesman.

“A number of animals remain at the location, including horses, goats, chickens and dogs and advice has been provided on their care. The RSPCA will continue to monitor the welfare of these animals.

“The RSPCA would like to thank Hertfordshire Fire Service for their assistance during the evening of 15 October.”

As this is an ongoing investigation the organisation told H&H it could not provide any further information.
