Quantum saddle wins D&AD yellow pencil design award

  • Dick Powell, designer director of Seymourpowell — the design company behind the development of the Quantum Saddle — has won the coveted Yellow Pencil in the D&AD Awards for the company’s work on the saddle.

The D&AD is an educational charity that represents the global creative, design and advertising communities. The D&AD annual awards reward outstanding creativity, mould-breaking thinking and the highest standard of design and innovation.

Dick Powell says: “This is terrific. Receiving an award for something physical, mechanical and really hard, is very satisfying. Many of the Seymourpowell family have had a hand in this product’s 10-year gestation period so many thanks to all and well done.”

Matthew Stockford, managing director of Quantum says: “Seymourpowell helped us achieve a revolution in saddle design and construction that enhances performance, stability and comfort for both horse and rider. The results have been staggering, and we are very proud having worked with Seymourpowell and to win such a prestigious award.”

The Quantum Saddle is being used by amateur and professional riders including top show jumpers Geoff Luckett and Gemma Paternoster and event rider Gemma Tattersall.
