Prince William escapes changing nappies to play polo


  • Prince Harry and the Duke of Cambridge were watched by a host of celebrities at the Audi Polo Challenge at Coworth Park, Ascot, Berkshire over the weekend (3-4 August).

    On Saturday (3 August), the Duke of Cambridge took a break from his parental duties to lead his Audi Quattro team to victory today over the Audi Ultra team — with the help of his brother Prince Harry.

    This was the Duke’s first public appearance since the birth of his son and after the match Audi UK director Martin Sander presented him with a mini polo stick for Prince George.

    “I was in baby mode out there, thinking about nappies. I wasn’t really in the zone,” William admitted after the match.

    The Prince is currently on paternity leave from his role as a RAF search and rescue pilot, but is expected to return to work sometime this week.

    On Sunday (4 August) Prince Harry, who currently plays off a handicap of 1, was victorious again with 7-4 win over Audi Ultra.

    This year Saturday’s fixture supported SkillForce and the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, of which Prince William is patron and president respectively.

    “The Duke and Duchess have done so much to support us and now they are a family, it’s just wonderful news,” Peter Cross, Skillforce’s chief executive, said.

    Sunday’s fixture was in aid of Sentebale, which is a charity founded by Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho.
