Police in Aberdeen are hunting for a vicious attackerwho slashed a horse in a field near Fyvie, in Aberdeenshire, inflicting him a serious wound to his flank.
The horse was attacked with a sharp instrument between 7.30pm and 9.30pm on Saturday evening (28 June) and was found injured by his owner, as she returned home just after 9.30pm.
This aggression follows three separate incidents in Derbyshire, where horses were stabbed and, in one case, drugged.
A Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals spokesperson says: “We are sickened to hear about the attack on this horse and would urge any horse owners to report to us any incidents where their horses or ponies have been interfered with, however minor they appear.”
A spokesperson for Grampian Police, who are investigating the incident, says: “Anyone who has any information on this cruel act should contact us immediately on 01888 562222 or telephone Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
