Equine vets run Marrakech marathon for SPANA

  • Equine vets Victoria Copas and Sarah Ross are to run the Marrakech marathon later this month for charity.

The two vets, from Liphook Equine Hospital in Hampshire will run on 26 January in aid of SPANA (the Society for the Protection of Animals Abroad).

The charity aims to improve the welfare of working horses and donkeys throughout Africa and the Middle East.

The girls chose to run in the Marrakech marathon since the British founders of the charity began their animal welfare campaign in Morocco 90 years ago.

Victoria, a European specialist in equine internal medicine, experienced SPANA’s valuable work first-hand when she spent time in Ethiopia in February 2013. She taught at a week-long workshop for Ethiopian veterinary professionals.

“We would be very grateful for sponsorship to guide us on our last month of training on cold, wet winter nights!” said Victoria.
