Be inspired by Andrew Nicholson’s new book
Fans of Andrew Nicholson can learn more about their favourite eventer thanks to a new book about the rider.
Andrew Nicholson: Focused tells Andrew’s story of how he came to Britain when he was 18 to forge an eventing career.
He has since competed in six Olympics, six World Championships and has been world number one.
The book is packed full of photos of his life.
“I hope it is interesting to see some pictures from the early days, where I came from and how I worked my way to the top level of the sport,” said Andrew.
“Perhaps it might show some younger riders today that you don’t need to come from a wealthy background to make it to the top.”
The book has been written in conjunction with H&H’s former hunting and racing editor Catherine Austen.

“Working with Andrew on this book has been fascinating,” said Catherine.
“He has been competing at the top level for 30 years and his understanding of horses and eventing is exceptional.
“He has had to work extremely hard to reach his position in the sport, and I hope that readers find inspiration in the fact that you don’t have to come from a privileged background to make it — if you are determined enough.
“I think the book is a great combination of stunning pictures and real insight into his life and the horses that he has ridden.”
Andrew Nicholson: Focused is out on 29 August and is published by Racing Post Books.
It will be available from www.racingpost.com/shop and from bookshops.
