It’s hard to remember life before social media but, once upon a time, it would have taken hours, even days, for news to filter out of the Olympic venues.

Nowadays, of course, we can enjoy instant access to all the goings on at the Games – we can scroll through countless pictures of patriotic Olympic stabling, enjoy rider selfies in the Olympic village or even discover what Nino Des Buissonnets had for breakfast.
