Hopetoun secures two new classes

  • Hopetoun Horse Trials has added two new international classes to its current format for next season (26-29 June).

The event, which is situated 14 miles outside of Edinburgh, will now also include a CCI* and CCI2*competition.

The addition of these classes will provide a welcome boost to eventing in Scotland after the loss of several events — including Burgie — in the two years.

Stuart Buntine, who organises the event, told H&H: “We are very excited. It’s great to make the most of the fantastic venue and we needed another big event in Scotland to go alongside Blair.”

Hopetoun is hoping to captalise on the excitement surrounding the Commonwealth Games and is introducing a new Commonwealth team competition.

For the Commonwealth Cup, each nation will put forward teams of five individuals, including at least two competitors in the CCI* and at least two from the CCI**, with the best four scores from each team counting.
