Belgian showjumper Nick Motmans on life support machine after schooling fall

  • The Belgian equestrian federation has confirmed to H&H this morning (4 December) that showjumper Nick Motmans remains on life support in hospital following a fall at home.

He was training in Lanklaar, Belgium, on Monday (2 December) when he fell from his horse.

The 27-year-old rider suffered a head injury and was taken to hospital in Genk. He underwent surgery and was placed into a coma.

Nick is a Derby speciallist and a regular visitor to the UK, where he is a familiar face at Hickstead. This summer he finished 6th in the Stoner Jewellers Vase with Ti Amo.

He finished 3rd in the Hickstead Derby in 2012 and 3rd in the Flanders Derby at Lummen in 2011, riding Aladdin St Ghyvan.
