Zara Phillips looks set for eventing comeback

  • Zara Phillips looks set to make her eventing comeback next month — just 3 months after giving birth to her 1st child.

Zara has 7 horses entered for Hambleden Horse Trials, Oxon (18-20 April).

The Queen’s granddaughter and her husband, former international rugby player Mike Tindall, celebrated the birth of their daughter Mia on 17 January.

The Olympic silver medallist’s last competitive ride was at Dauntsey Park in August 2013.  Her determination to continue riding late into her pregnancy reignited the debate over whether it is safe to continue riding while pregnant.

It is thought Zara wanted to make a relatively quick comeback to riding after giving birth as she is hoping to be selected to ride at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games this summer (28-31 August). Zara would be looking to regain the world title which she won with Toytown in 2006.

Among her entries for Hambleden is her Olympic partner High Kingdom in the open intermediate.

Zara has already been spotted out and about since giving birth at Barbury point-to-point and at the Cheltenham Festival last week.
