23-year-old British rider finishes third in Olympia World Cup qualifier [video]

  • 23-year-old Daniel Neilson had the ride of a lifetime to come third in the 5th leg of the Longines FEI World Cup Qualifier at Olympia today (21 December).

The jump-off was won by last drawn Maikel van der Vleuten who was following in his father Eric’s footsteps who won the class at Olympia in 2009.

11 riders qualified for the jump-off — including 4 British riders — but Maikel used his favourable draw to steal victory from Belgium’s Francois Mathy Jr.

World number 1 Scott Brash finished 6th but remains at the top of the Western European League.

H&H caught up with Maikel, Francois and Daniel after their performances — watch their reactions below.
