Infectious disease threatens show

  • A three-day show in the New Forest has been forced to relocate at the last minute after a local forest pony was discovered at the show site with an infectious disease.

The New Forest Pony and Cattle Breeding Society’s show, which is celebrating its centenary this year, was to take place at New Park, Brockenhurst, from tomorrow (26 August). It has moved to Beaulieu, home of Lord and Lady Montague and the motor museum, about 10 miles away.

The society is trying to get word out to hundreds of exhibitors, who are due to travel from all over the UK and from abroad for the show.

Tomorrow’s classes are for stallions, ridden classes take place on Sunday and in-hand classes on Monday.

Access for all, including lorries is via Beaulieu, or via Lyndhurst and Beaulieu Road. Follow the signs to the Motor Museum and go through the Motor Museum main gate, where directions to the showground will be signposted.
