Our reviewer found this jacket performed well as a useful alternative to big, bulky coats
The Alby Technical Softshell is a good mid layer for winter or jacket for those chilly days in the spring and autumn.
I was actually really surprised by just how warm this jacket kept me on some really cold days. It was a useful alternatively to a big bulky winter jacket when riding on cold days. The jacket has a cosy fleece lining and is good at keeping the cold out.
The coat is water resistant, so ok if you get caught in drizzle or a light shower but not ideal for a rainy day.
The jacket has washed up well, and dries quickly.
It has good sized pockets to store your phone and gloves and these are zip up to make sure items in your pockets are secure. This is great for when you’re riding or busy on the yard.
What I didn’t like so much about this jacket was I personally felt it wasn’t the most flattering fit. I also found that the sleeves came up a bit short on me. I would have liked it if the jacket had Lycra cuffs with thumb holes or even just thumb holes to ensure the sleeves stayed down and to really keep the wind out.
This said the jacket is a great versatile item that I think offers good value for the price point. It is stylish and I have found it a useful item to pull out of the wardrobe on a variety of occasions.
From riding to dog walking and running, this has been a useful edition to my wardrobe and I would recommend the jacket to a friend.
