  • Arena Racing Company (ARC) has undertaken a huge investment to improve the tracks at a number of its racecourses.

The total investment is half a million pounds and will help fund the levelling of the home straight at Great Yarmouth over the winter. The course will close after the Eastern Festival, which is taking place on the 16-17 September and will remain closed until June 2015.

There will be a number of improvements, like drainage, made to other courses such as Chepstow, Fontwell and Worcester.

Jim Allen, ARC racing director, said: “We have a diverse range of courses within the Group and we are committed to ensuring each one provides the best possible conditions for horses to race on. We are pleased to have the opportunity to work with the Levy Board and the British Horseracing Authority to undertake a programme of significant investment and look forward to years of successful and competitive racing at our courses.”
