Feathers fly as Shires Monty and Max enjoy their summer holiday [PICS]
The two Shire horses from the Wadworth brewery in Wiltshire are currently enjoying their annual summer holiday.
Monty and Max enjoyed a pint (pictured below) of the brewery’s Corvus Stout at The Raven pub in Poulshot, near Devizes, before setting on their way last week (Friday 8 August).
Hundreds of people gathered in the village to wave off the horses, although they’re only going to paddocks quarter of a mile away.
“The Wadworth horses annual holiday gets more and more popular each year,” said Jerry Edwards, landlord of The Raven.
“Last week was our biggest turnout yet. Everyone loves seeing the horses up close, with both Shires appearing to relish their celebrity-like status.”
For the next two weeks the working horses will have a break from delivering casks of real ale to the local Wadworth pubs.
They will return to the stables on Tuesday 26 August.
