Two-year-old girl dies in fire at stables in West Yorkshire


  • A two-year-old girl has died in a fire at a stables in West Yorkshire.

    The emergency services were called at 5.30pm on Friday (30 September) to Hessle Farm, Wragby near Wakefield.

    The body of Isobel Dobson was found at the scene.

    “On arrival, two barns at the farm were found to have been ablaze. A van was also caught in the fire,” said a spokesman for West Yorkshire Police.

    Her 37-year-old stepfather and one-year old stepsister were taken to hospital for treatment to burns but were discharged on Saturday

    “A 37-year old Wakefield man has now been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently in police custody,” said the police.

    “Enquiries into the cause of the fire, which is now being treated as suspicious, are ongoing and a joint investigation is being carried out by West Yorkshire Police and West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.”

    No horses are thought to have been injured in blaze.
