Police in Ohio are investigating after two horses were found dead in a frozen creek.
A chestnut mare and her foal were found dead last Tuesday (3 February).
The foal’s legs had been bound but according to the Astabula County Humane Society neither horse had injuries that indicated how they died.
The horses were pulled out by firefighters and buried on Wednesday.
The local sheriff’s office and the Humane Society continue to investigate.
