Three boys injured in pony and trap road accident


  • Three boys were injured last night (Thursday) after a car collided with the pony and trap they were driving.

    The accident occurred on the B1283 near Durham, when a Volvo ran into the rear of the pony and trap, throwing the driver and two passengers on to the road. It was still daylight at the time.

    One of the boys, 12, suffered a broken leg and is awaiting surgery at the University Hospital of North Durham.

    Two 13-year-old boys suffered broken collarbones, concussion, cuts and bruises and are recovering in the hospital.

    The Volvo driver, her two passengers and the pony were all uninjured. Witnesses are asked to contact police on 0345 6060 365.
