Hickstead announces record entries for Derby meeting

  • A record number of horses and riders are heading to the All England Jumping course in West Sussex for the Equestrian.com Hickstead Derby Meeting  (25-29 June).

“Such was the demand from competitors, we have to close entries early and reschedule some classes,” said the organisers.

The June fixture gets underway next Wednesday (25th June) with a range of national showjumping classes.

Action in the international arena begins on Thursday 26, and the show culminates on Sunday 29 with the famous Hickstead Derby, which is sponsored for the first time by online retailer Equestrian.com.

Last year’s Derby winner Phillip Miller, 3-times former winner William Funnell, Guy Williams, who won in 2010 and the only female winner since 1973, Tina Fletcher are among this year’s competitors.

Sky Sports will be broadcasting live from Hickstead from 1.30pm til 5pm on Sunday 29 June, bringing you all the action from the Equestrian.com Derby on Sky Sports 1 and HD1.

Showjumping fans can enjoy a host of new benefits, including access to a free course walk and a free ticket to the show on Thursday by buying a Hickstead Derby community official polo shirt, priced £24.99.

Over the course of the Derby meeting around 1,800 horses are expected, with this year’s riders enjoying improved facilities.
