Racing club set up in memory of Tom Bannister

  • The Coniston Hotel Racing Club has been launched to celebrate the life of avid point-to-point supporter Tom Bannister who died in a car crash in June aged 48.

Tom was the northern representative of the point-to-point association and clerk of the course at Pendle Forest and Craven point-to-point.

His father Michael said: “[Tom] would have wanted members to have fun and follow horses the way he did — with passion and commitment.”

Tom will also be remembered in a fundraising race at Wetherby on 27 November, formerly the Countryside Alliance’s Northern Race for Repeal, which has been renamed the Tom Bannister Memorial Cup.
