Video: Police horse tramples on a football steward during crowd trouble

  • A police horse trampled on a football steward when a match between Preston and Blackpool ended with a pitch invasion by home fans.

The police horses were sent onto the field after hundreds of Preston fans flooded the pitch following the team’s late victory in the West Lanchashire Derby.

The steward was on the pitch at Deepdale helping to disperse the crowd when a police horse struck him. He then fell under the hooves of another police horse which was cantering alongside.

Lanchashire police has confirmed that it is investigating the incident.

A spokesman said: “We are aware that a steward was injured inside the ground and I would like to reassure people that will be looking into the circumstances around how and why that happened.”
