Nominate an Olympic torch bearer

  • Do you know someone in the equestrian community who deserves recognition for their efforts?

If so, Lloyds TSB invites you to nominate them to carry the Olympic flame.

Perhaps it is an enthusiastic district commissioner or a diligent course-builder? Or maybe it is the instructor who has made a real difference?

Para rider Michael Murphy, from Hertfordshire, has nominated Sarah Healing, team coach at Penniwells Riding for the Disabled Association.

He said: “Sarah has run Penniwells for 17 years and expanded it into a nationally recognised centre with 140 riders a week.

“She helped me to win the KBIS National Championships grade 1a in 2010 and we went to compete at Moorsele, Belgium, the same year.

Sarah puts 100 per cent into everything and has changed so many lives.”

Sarah said: “When I came back from holiday and found out about this I was so surprised — there are so many deserving volunteers out there.

“It is really exciting and if I did get to carry the flame I would be so proud, it would be a once in a lifetime opportunity.”

Nominations must be made before Monday, 12 September.
