Diana Bown has been elected chairman of the British Event Organisers Association (BEOA). Mrs Bown— who organises Mount Ballan Horse trials and is a former British Eventing (BE) board director — has been acting chairman since former chairman Adele Schardt died last October (news, 3 November). Mrs Bown previously chaired the organisation for 8 years.
“I am flattered to be the chairman of the BEOA again,” she said. “Now that the organisation has been restructured and has several new committee members, we are all looking forward to representing and helping organisers, as well as having good communication with riders, owners and British Eventing.”
Mrs Bown was awarded the MBE for her services to equestrianism in 2011.
