Man decorates a donkey with roses to protest Valentine’s Day

  • A man in Jordan used a donkey in his attempt to protest St Valentine’s Day at the weekend.

The man dressed the donkey in red and stood it at the entrance to Ramtha, a city 80km north of Amman on Saturday 14 February.

He draped the animal in red cloth and fixed red roses to its ears.

Protester Ayman Quaider told local reporters “The move is intended to send a clear message to all that celebrating Valentine’s Day is strange to our religion, traditions and culture.”

On Friday prayer leaders and Muslim scholars in Jordan had urged youths not to enter into Valentine’s celebrations as it was against Islamic teachings.
